Bruce Middleton has won the Garioch Senior Triples final, and qualifies for the Scottish playdowns in November. Getting this far he had to beat Alex McGaughey, Norman Burnett and Geoff Simpson for the title. The same three from last year make up the team- Frank Sinclair, Ian Ingram and Bruce Middleton (Skip).

The trio hope to go one better than this last winter, when they reached the semi-final of the Scottish Seniors Championship, but came up against Midlothian, who had internationalists Ian Fleming, Sandy Knight, and Lyndsey Plenderleith playing. Garioch lost 9-20. Bruce Middleton commented that they were fighting against some of the finest drawing, experienced in the competition.

The team should however, be well pleased with some outstanding results. They first had Inverness, then beat Aberdeen 17-10 (on their own carpet), and Fraserburgh 17-7 in the quarter final.

Geoff Simpson, after winning 4 titles last winter, starts off well again by winning the Garioch Seniors Singles title over Jim Bruce. It was not an easy passage to the final, in that he beat Bill Waiter in quarter final and then had a tough match against Frank Sinclair. Simpson has qualified for the Scottish playdowns in October. He will hope to do better this year than his first round defeat to David Nicholson of Aberdeen 14-21.Lee Collins must be sick of having to meet Jason Banks in the Garioch Club finals. The one competition he did not meet Jason Banks was the Club Gents 4s where he met and defeated Gary MacDonald.
